FASD: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum DisordersFASD is the umbrella term for for disorders caused by maternal alcohol consumption during pregnancy. This encompasses fetal alcohol syndrome, partial fetal alcohol syndrome, alcohol related-birth defects, and alcohol related neurodevelopmental disorder. FASD presents itself in a number of physical and cognitive deficiencies including retardation of physical growth, intellectual disabilities, and portrayal of specific facial anomalies as can be seen to the right.

Current Screening: Bayley's Scale of Infant and Toddler DevelopmentThe Bayley's test examines all the facets of a young child's development. Children are assessed using a number of Motor, Language, and Cognitive tests to diagnose developmental delays including FASD. Studies have shown that it is most accurate in children around 3 years old.
